OWNER/FOUNDER, PERFORMANCE PHYSICAL THERAPIST, SPORTS CERTIFIED SPECIALIST, ATHLETIC TRAINER
Dr. Beckett returned to his home state in 2018 after having spent the majority of his career optimizing the health and performance of elite athletes across the country. He specializes in the assessment and rehabilitation of athletes and active individuals of all ages, and treats a variety of complex cases that have not yet responded to conservative treatments.
Prior to founding Dirigo Physical Therapy and Performance, Lloyd was the Head Athletic Trainer and Lead Physical Therapist for the Brooklyn Nets NBA franchise, after spending two seasons as the team’s director of physical therapy. He was awarded the NBA’s Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Year award in his first season with the team. Before joining the Nets, he worked with the U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Command in North Carolina as a physical therapist, and he also spent two years as a physical therapist at the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute in Nashville.
The Falmouth, Maine native has also spent time with the Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, New England Patriots, Providence College Friars, and the Brown University Bears. Lloyd was recently the Director of Peak Performance at Colby College, working to develop an integrated team of professionals to elevate the performance of the Division III student-athletes . He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degrees from Northeastern University, and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Bridgewater State University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and is one of the few PTs in Maine recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a Sports Specialist.
